Advertising Awards for Obama’s Election Campaign
The advertising campaign that helped Barack Obama to win the US presidential election has received recognition at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Awards. Advertising agency Droga5 won the Titanium prize for presenting an idea that is provocative, challenges assumptions and points to a new direction for The Great Schlep campaign featuring Sarah Silverman intended to boost support for Obama amongst Jewish voters. As well as the video that saw Silverman urging young Jewish grandchildren to travel to Florida and persuade their grandparents to vote Obama, there was also an interactive website as part of the campaign. Microsoft Sells its Advertising Agency Razorfish
Microsoft is reportedly looking to sell its online advertising agency Razorfish just two years after acquiring it as part of a $6bn deal for parent company aQuantive Inc. A report in the Financial Times suggested that Microsoft has brought in the investment bank Morgan Stanley to seek out a potential buyer for the agency, which has been valued between $600 million and $700 million. It’s hardly a surprise move as there has been speculation over whether Razorfish really fits into Microsoft’s plans to cut back on unnecessary costs and concentrate purely on its core business during the recession. Google Bringing in Real Time Results
The current popularity in Twitter and the fact that the company are actually trying to get themselves into real time search has made Google take notice.
Although we all know that fresh unique content was always essential to build power and authority on your site and also give your new post a freshness boost, there has been a slight tweak in the algo from what I am seeing over the last few days to give further power to fresh posts from authority and powerful sites.
What seems to be happening is that when a new post is created it gets indexed and then placed into a Top 10 position for some highly competitive terms, this ten over the next few days drops off on to page two, three and then eventually disappears from the SERPs.
