Using Your iPhone To Find Takeaways In Your Area

Category: UncategorizedAdmin @ 10:31 am

Most of us have had the experience of being somewhere unfamiliar, looking for somewhere to eat that won’t result in food poisoning. I had it recently, walking around Nottingham’s streets trying to find a decent Chinese or Indian takeaway.

But if you’re an iPhone owner, then you don’t have to worry about this problem. There are numerous apps available on the iTunes App Store that allow you to use the phone’s built-in GPS to pinpoint your location and find all the restaurants in your local area.

A particularly good one of these apps is ‘Around Me’, which lets you locate takeaways, restaurants, hotels, banks, pretty much anything you might require, then giving you in-depth information about the listing you’ve chosen.

Another option available to you is to use the 3G streaming on the iPhone to do a Google search while out and about (something that you just couldn’t have done so easily before smartphones). For example whilst out and about, I did a quick search for ‘Chinese takeaway Nottingham‘ and ‘Indian Takeaway Nottingham‘ using the iPhones’ built-in web browser (Safari). I immediately found several useful results, most of which allowed me to find a suitable takeaway and then access user reviews, recommendations and directions whilst on the go.

If you can’t get your phone online, you could of course always try a local enquiry line, who should be able to give you suitable recommendations. For example, i called one of these lines and asked for decent Nottingham takeaways and was given relevant and useful information by a local woman within minutes.

So you can always use your phone to find a good restaurant or takeaway one way or another, and this is just one of a thousand reasons why it’s a good idea to get yourself a smartphone.
